CONAC Reaches Out to Catholic Bishops

The Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission of Cameroon (CONAC), Rev. Dr. Dieudonné MASSI GAMS, on January 13th, 2016, presented the state of the fight against corruption in Cameroon to bishops of the Roman Catholic Church. This was during the 39th Annual Seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon which took place in Batouri in the East Region of the country, from the 9th to the 16th of January, 2016. The Chairman used the occasion to explain the important role which churches can play in the fight against corruption and enjoined bishops to spur their parishioners to change habits and oppose corruption. The Bishops, in their final declaration, enjoined government to play its part in the fight against corruption by implementing Article 66 of the Constitution that requires that senior government officials declare their assets and property when entering and when leaving office.[...] Lire
