AFRICA ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY, CONAC EMPOWERS HEADS OF ANTI-CORRUPTION UNITS
The National Anti-Corruption Commission, CONAC, has acquainted Stakeholders in the fight against corruption in the country, notably heads of anti-corruption units in both public and parapublic institutions, with the Commonwealth Anti-Corruption Benchmarks recommended as best practices in the fight against corruption.
The Commonwealth Benchmarks revolve around 25 areas , intended primarily to help governments and public sector organisations assess their anti-corruption laws, regulations, policies and procedures against internationally recognised good practices, and consider implementing appropriate improvements. The approach promotes honesty, impartiality, accountability and transparency, and provide for specific anti-corruption measures.
The workshop on the introduction of Commonwealth Benchmarks as inspiration in the fight against corruption in Cameroon was organised in Ebolowa, chief town of the South Region on July 14 and 15, 2022, as activity to mark the 6th edition of the African Anti-Corruption Day, a day observed on July 11, each year.
CONAC Chairman, Rev. Dr Dieudonné MASSI GAMS, used the occasion to urge heads of anti-corruption units to make use of the training offered so as to improve on their performance and contribution in the fight against corruption in the country.
