Cameroonian youths have been challenged to shape a corruption -free -future  as the country joined to observe the 21st International Anti-Corruption Day.

Corruption stakeholders in Cameroon converged on Bafoussam, chief town of the West Region, on November 9, 2024 to commemorate the 21st International Anti-Corruption Day observed under the theme, “Uniting with Youth against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”.

The event was marked by a sensitisation walk and a three-day training workshop for Heads of Anti-Corruption Units in government ministries, public enterprises and local councils, on methods and tools in the fight against corruption.

The Governor of the West Region, AWAH FONKA Augustine, chaired the manifestations in the presence of the Chairman of CONAC, Rev Dr Dieudonné MASSI GAMS.

In his declaration, the CCONAC, Chairman said corruption continues to ravage the public service in Cameroon despite efforts to eradicate the cankerworm. He urged Cameroonians to stand up against corruption which he said has ravaged the country, causing untold suffering and misery. He mostly encouraged youths, who are at the centre of this year’s theme, to actively engage in the fight by resisting and denouncing all forms of corruption to CONAC.
