Cameroon Real Estate Corporation: Anti-Corruption Unit Goes Operational

CONAC Chairman urges members of the team to work with probity, vigilance and shrewdness.

Members of the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Cameroon Real Estate Corporation, otherwise known by its French acronym SIC, have been challenged to stamp out corruption within the Corporation and ensure that perpetrators are exposed and punished.

The call was made recently in Yaounde by the Chairman of the National ANTI Corruption Commission, Rev. Dr. Dieudonne MASSI GAMS, while commissioning the new team at the Corporation’s head quarters in Yaounde. The CONAC Chairman acknowledged the important role the Corporation plays in the economy and in the wellbeing of Cameroonians in the offer of basic facilities such as lodging, but frowned at the obscure manner with which some of its workers perform their duties. He told members of the anti-corruption unit that they represent CONAC at SIC and urged them to work with probity, vigilance and shrewdness.

Formed on the 20th of March, 2018, the anti-corruption unit, first of its kind at the Cameroon Real Estate Corporation, is made up of some workers of the corporation and members from the civil society, with Professor ATEMENGUE Jean Noel, a university lecturer of law and member from the civil society, as President.

While appreciating the composition of the team, the General Manager of SIC, Gabriel BENGONO said the installation of the anti corruption unit is a milestone in the fight against corruption in his Corporation and called on members to work with neutrality and help project the image of the Cameroon Real Estate Corporation by promoting good governance and integrity.
