The 138th International Labour Day : CONAC discusses decent work

The National Anti-Corruption Commission commemorated the International Labour Day, for the second time since its inception. The event was a time for reflection and celebration.

CONAC staff celebrated the 138th International Labour Day in style, on the theme: “Constructive social dialogue, vector of decent work and social progress”. Prior to the celebrations, CONAC employees gathered on the 30th of April 2024, for a conference on the concept of ‘Decent Work’. This conference was attended by the Chairman of CONAC, Rev. Dr Dieudonné MASSI GAMS, and the Vice-Chairman, Prof. François ANOUKAHA.

The guest speaker, Marcelle AFANE, Labour Inspector at the Centre Regional Delegation of Labour and Social Security, addressed the audience on the pillars of decent work highlighted in the theme of the 138th International Labour Day. The pillars, which social dialogue strives to achieve, are job stability and security, as well as social security and respect for workers’ rights.

This culminated on the 1st of May 2024, with a home-cooked meal, made by female staff of the institution at the behest of the Chairman of CONAC, an opportunity for the staff and top management to interact. The CONAC staff seized the opportunity to reassure the institution’s hierarchy of their satisfaction and presented their expectations.
