EXECUTION OF REGIONAL PLAN AGAINST CORRUPTION STILL IN BAD SHAPE

The level of implementation of the Regional Action Plan against Corruption in Cameroon’s ten Regions, is still very low, ten years after the National Strategy for the Fight against Corruption went operational in 2011

Statistics gathered during a series of evaluations carried out by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, CONAC   in the ten Regions that make up the country, from May to June 2022, indicate a 38.07 % general average.

The evaluation was made based on the level of execution of actions that were laid out in the Regional Action plan with respect to the PrECIS Model, noted to be an effective approach in the fight against corruption. The model calls for anti-corruption actions in domains which include Prevention, Education, Condition, Incentive and Sanction.

The Chairman of the National Anti corruption Commission Rev. Dr. Dieudonné MASSI GAMS said, the low output is a pointer to the lack of commitment by heads of administrations and public services in the Region, to the fight against Corruption. He promised tough times to dissenting officials as the Anti Graft Institution develops more engaging methods of implementation of the Regional Action Plan against Corruption.
